34/52 - O Norte Esconde-se / The North Hides

This week was really heavy on photo editing so I didn't manage to save enough time to dedicate myself to this project... Even during the weekend my days were packed full, fortunatelly it wasn't work related, but some leisure time. So this weeks photo is of a simple star trail, and not a good one at it... I promise I'll try to redeem myself, perhaps next week... ;)

33/52 - Fotografar o amanhecer / Photographing dawn

Today, following the celebration of the World Photography Day, the Portuguese Institute of Photography, organized an activity for it's Photography enthusiasts called "Photographing Dawn". This activity started at 4h00 a.m at Praça da Figueira in Lisbon where a small briefing took place followed by a short walk to the Gates of the Sun (Portas do Sol) Belvedere where the group had the chance to see, but above all photograph the great show that is dawn. The Sun came out today at 6h51a.m. but long before that time one could here the nervous shutters as soon as the first light os the Astronomical Twilight appeared.

In this photo it's visible the Panteão Nacional's (Igreja de Santa Engrácia) dome and respective zimborium peering over the Alfama neighbourhood.

Even though I was well accompanied by dozens of photographers, it was in the company of three friends that dispite all that sleepiness (after all we none of us had slept), we had a great time.

31/52 - Vivam os Noivos / Long Live the Newlyweds

That's right... This weekend was our two good friend's wedding... One against the other... :) Who'd say that the friendships forged by my wife during college, would run so deep after all this time... And what's funny is that those three friends kept the same boyfriends all along and since then we get along really well... This couple was the last of us three to get married, wich only means we had to party harder...

Well, one of the presents we wanted to give them was a "diferent" photo, so I thought in mixing together the venue with it's pool and light and the lighjt painting technique, and thus this picture was born wich I hope is to their liking...

A great big hug and lots of kisses to this little couple from your friends over here...

Strobist: YN460II at full power to light the newlyweds, YN460II (blue gelled) at 1/4 power to light the floor (about three flashes) and YN460II (red gelled) behind the "egg" (about two flahes). Wisp of fire were produced by means of steel wool on fire.
